2017 Racketball Tournament

The annual racketball tournament held on 17^th June was a great success, with some hard fought and extremely entertaining finals.

Sean O’Donovan once again proved to be in a different class taking the Open Championship for the 15^th time in succession, winning 3-0, despite his opponent John Good putting in a massive effort and nearly taking the 3^rd game. John Good’s stamina, guile and determination suggested that he could be even closer in competing for the title next year.

The Handicap Championship final was a feisty affair with club chairman, Steve Davies, easing out Michael Galvin 3-0, but Michael recovered quickly to become the Plate champion for the second year running, showing his class and unorthodox shots, beating Gary Saville 3-0.

Mel Booth becomes the Ladies Champion with a stylish performance, winning 3-1 against Emma Walton.

The most entertaining game of the night was the doubles final with David Hounsell and Dave Akehurst overcoming Emma Walton and Matt Day 3-1 and making the honours board for the first ever time.
