Players and families gathered at the club house on Friday 4 September to celebrate our young players' achievements during the 2026 season and to thank volunteer coaches and Team Managers. Young players enjoyed a final game of cricket (plus some impromptu football, running and dancing) until the sun went down and it was too dark to see the ball! Pizza and other treats went down well too.

The 2026 season saw 64 children and young people (Year 3 to Year 11) take part in junior cricket training.

U11 & U13 girls and U11 & U13 boys teams played 34 games between them, with some outstanding individual performances. 

Club Chair, Rachel Gainsford commented: "As the season went on, friendships developed and a brilliant team spirit flourished. It was lovely to see and hear young players supporting and encouraging each other, as well as opposition players, on and off the pitch."

Rachel adds: "A new venture, 'The Friday Nighters', was added to our calendar during 2026 too. Hythe junior players of all ages played a friendly game on Friday evenings meaning families could enjoy winding down together at the end of the week. It was wonderful to see the younger siblings cartwheeling, running and rolling on the grass, while the adults in the families enjoyed a drink in the sunshine."
