The Kent Coastal Open Racketball Tournament

The Kent Coastal Open Racketball Tournament

Rachel Gainsford16 Sep 2024 - 14:38

What a weekend it was!

Over 50 racketball players hit the courts, playing over 90 games in the Kent Coastal Racketball Tournament. Players came from across the UK, including local talent taking on some of the best in the country.
We had the privilege of watching some incredible stars in action:
• Amber Marshall, 3-time Ladies National Champion
• 4 of the Top 10 men’s players
• The Captain of the England Over 40s men’s team
• And a host of local and county-ranked players
It wasn’t just about great racketball – the tournament raised over £2000 for two fantastic local charities: Hythe Dementia Awareness and Ed’s Fund, which supports disadvantaged young people in sports. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed!
Highlights of the Weekend:
• The ladies final was a thriller, with our very own Mel Booth claiming victory in a nail-biting match against Fran Whyte. The cheers and celebrations were well deserved!
• Nic Barnes and Dave Brewer exceeded all expectations and reached the final day.
Shoutouts and Thanks:
• Nic Barnes and Tommy Meadows (Dover Racketball & Squash Club) for their stellar event management.
• Reagan, Katie, and Kirsty went above and beyond, working over 50 hours to ensure everyone was cared for.
• Every member who played, cheered, and supported the event – you made it special!
• Our generous sponsors:
o Hugh Quinn of Planancy
o The Radnor Arms Folkestone
o Kent Cables Ltd.
o Trevor Semadini
o Stacey at The Wrong End of Town
Thank you all for making the Kent Coastal Racketball Tournament such a success. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
