Fencing Around the Ground

After years of vandalism and damage to our pitches, the Club Committee has made the difficult decision to close our ground to the public.
Every person who walks across the pitches in the wet, every dog that digs a hole, every vehicle or bike that churns up the turf contributes to a recurring cycle of damage that makes our pitches unsafe for play.  Our volunteers spend increasing amounts of time removing litter and dog mess, and making repairs ahead of games and training.  In doing so they have been subject to verbal abuse from members of the public.
Over the past 12 months we have invested considerable amounts of time and money in bringing our pitches up to a safe standard. After local consultation, in April/May 2021 fencing will be going up around the pitches, and the ground will be closed to the public.
There is no public right of way across our ground.   The sketch shows the new access points, and the area outside the fenced pitches where members of the public are still welcome to walk.
Only club members and visitors attending games, functions or boot fairs can bring dogs in to the ground.  We ask members and visitors to keep dogs on a lead at all times, to clean up after their dog, and not to walk across the pitches.
We are a sports club.  We welcome new members, we welcome anyone who wants to play sport, and we want to provide well maintained facilities.  We have to be sure that adults and children playing sport can do so in a safe, clean environment.  Please respect our decision, and respect our ground.
Thank you
