Golf Society Update – Sittingbourne

SITTINGBOURNE TUESDAY 1st MAY

After the monsoon rains of Monday we had a great turnout of 23 people, only one drop out – Chairman Steve Davies!!, for the first match at Sittingbourne & Milton Regis Golf Club. Unbelievably the weather was fantastic, sunny and nearly hot!! Only one green was under water from the previous day and the course looked and played fantastically well.

History was made in the Society today. Josh Healey, playing off a handicap of 6, won the day with 39 points on countback from Club cricketing stalwart Henry Large.

He also managed a hole in one on the par 3 eleventh hole, his first in 15 years of trying. Well done Josh and also well done Sittingbourne Golf Club who presented him with a trophy and a cut glass goblet.

It doesn’t finish there. He also got a two, winning £23, won nearest the pin and nearest the pin in 2!!! Quite a good day at the office for Josh!! Also sharing the 2’s pot with Josh was Peter Moynan who rolled in his 2 on the 4th hole. Well done Peter.

Debutante Les Neil drew Josh in the sweepstake securing himself £23 and his amateur status will be investigated!!

Next event is at Kings Hill on Thursday 7th June and I hope to see another good turn out then. Thank you all for your support.
