Golf Society – Hever Castle
We had 20 golfers for our first outing of the year at Hever Castle on Thursday 27th April and the weather was kind to us once again.
The course played very long and this was, I think, reflected in the scores that were returned with only two players scoring over 30 points. The Runner Up was Geoff Ewins with 32 points and the Winner was Peter Moynan with 33 points. the rest ranged from 13 points up to 29 points.
Nearest the pin in 2 shots on the 345 yard 5th was won by Tony Wilkins with a drive and wedge to about 5 feet just outdoing Max Moynan by a couple of feet.
Nearest the pin on the 128 yard 12th over a very inviting pond was won by Jon Bloice who was only a couple of feet from the hole. He won’t thank me for mentioning this but he missed the putt for a 2 thereby missing out on £40 in the 2’s pot, which was not won. The money rolls over to Nizells on 23rd May.
Finally the sweepstake for the winner was won by Tom Homewood who pocketed £20.
Overall, despite the road closures around Hever Castle which fooled several people, including me, a great day was had by everyone.
I hope to see you all, and a few more, at Nizells Golf Club on Tuesday 23rd May.
Thank you for your support
